Californians will head to the polls to
potentially make history as the first state to vote on a bill that would
mandate labeling of genetically modified foods.
And that multi-million dollar referendum food fight could drift over
into Maine. The passing of the bill
would be a major success for environmentalists and food activists. The bill would also prohibit genetically
modified food from being labeled as "all-natural" -- one of the most
deceptive terms in today's food labels.
Joining us to discuss the effects this west-coast bill could have on the
east-coast is Mark Lapping with the USM Muskie School of Public Service.
