Your Hometown: The Maine POM Project

Posted: Updated:

Since May of 2009, Bobby Silcott (Harvest Hills Animal Shelter Board member and local Animal Control Officer) has been on a mission. His mission is to help equip local rescue organizations with Pet Oxygen Masks (POMs) designed for most companion animals. In order to do so, Bobby received the necessary education to qualify him to teach Red Cross Certified classes on Animal First Aid and CPR. Bobby has volunteered his time, so the proceeds from these classes can go toward the purchase of these much needed masks. Harvest Hills currently services 19 towns and the goal was to equip all of these towns with masks. Recently, Steve Chase, Fryeburg resident and owner of Bea's Cafe in Conway, NH stepped forward and offered to purchase the masks for all 19 towns! This allowed the POM project to reach beyond the Harvest Hills service area. Now the project is going statewide in hopes to make sure all Maine Fire/Rescue Departments are equipped with POMs. We welcome the help of any individual, business, community group etc... in raising funds for the project.
