8/9/2012 - Planet Dog's Yappy Hour

What: 

Planet Dog's popular Yappy Hour will feature a free assistance dog presentation given by Suzan Morris, Founder of DogPowered.  Come meet working assistance dogs and dogs in training as well as representatives from service dog programs such as Assistance Canine Training Services and Canine Companions for Independence.  Help Planet Dog celebrate and honor Maine's assistance dog heroes and the volunteers and trainers who help them on their journey.

Founder of DogPowered, Suzan Morris has been involved in the assistance dog world since 2004 as both a volunteer and assistance dog partner.  As a former volunteer with My Wonderful Dog and now Assistance Canine Training Services (ACTS), Suzan is a champion for assistance dog awareness and education.    

The Yappy Hour will feature assistance dog demos and Q&A, provide puppy raiser information as well as information about assistance dog programs and dog etiquette and laws.  Participants are encouraged to bring their four legged friend(s) and enjoy free snacks and treats.

International Assistance Dog Week (IADW) takes place August 5^th – 11^th.  It was created to recognize all the devoted, hardworking assistance dogs helping individuals mitigate their disability related limitations.

How:              

This is a free event for dog lovers and their canine companions.  Free snacks for people and dogs will be served.  Donations for the Planet Dog Foundation (PDF), Planet Dog's non-profit grant-making organization, are gladly accepted.

Who:
