Rachel Clark of Oakland, Maine is the recipient of the FOX23
Broadcast Scholarship for 2012.
A graduate of Messalonskee High School in Oakland, Maine,
she attends Thomas College expecting to graduate in May 2013 with a Marketing
and Public Relations concentration.
She has interned with the Maine Lottery and Thomas College.

Below is a summary of the scholarship that WPFO FOX23 awards to one deserving recipient.
PLEASE NOTE: The application is only available from the end of November to March 31.
Who is eligible to apply?
Any graduating Maine high school student who is entering full-time, a two- or four-year degree granting college, or a Maine resident enrolled full-time in an undergraduate program in a two- or four-year degree-granting college, who plans on majoring or is majoring in a broadcast-related field of study, including but not limited to: journalism, graphic design, public relations, marketing, promotion, advertising, television production, digital media or broadcast engineering.
The school the student is attending or plans to attend does not have to be located in Maine. The winner may not be awarded back-to-back scholarships with FOX23. The winner will have to pass one year before applying for a scholarship again. All other previous applicants may apply again.

How are the scholarships awarded?
The scholarship is awarded to one student based on applications received. The recipient is selected by a committee of FOX23 staff based on 1) completed application, 2) essay, 3) high school or post secondary school transcripts, 4) letter of recommendation from an educator. The recipient will be notified by May 31st with payout by July 31.
Application process
Application may be downloaded here. You may also request an application by phone (207-347-7318) or in writing (FOX23 Scholarship, 233 Oxford St., Suite 35, Portland, ME 04101). The Application is only available beginning in December.
Scholarship forms must be postmarked between January 1 and March 31. Scholarship decision will be made by May 31st for a July disbursement date (if any date falls on a weekend, the next business day will be the deadline). No applications will be accepted before or after those dates.
Incomplete applications are ineligible and will not be considered.
Exceptions
Employees and family members of FOX23, Max Media of Portland LLC or CMCG Portland License LLC are ineligible to apply or accept scholarship award.
