People Stranded on York Wild Kingdom Ferris Wheel

By News 13

A dozen people were stranded for about 45 minutes when a Ferris wheel got stuck late Wednesday afternoon at York Wild Kingdom.

According to authorities, a York fire truck was brought in to bring down the people stuck on the 40-foot Ferris wheel.

There were 12 people on the ride when it stopped, about half of them kids.

Firefighters say nobody panicked and there were no injuries.

Park operators voluntarily shut down the ride which will be inspected Thursday by mechanics and the Fire Marshal's office.

Poll

Do you think Portland's mayor should continue to be selected by the city council, or should voters get to choose their own mayor?

  • The system should stay the same. If it ain't broke, don't fix it.
  • Voters should get to decide. The city council has too much power as it is.
