Maine Maritime Schooner Docks in Portland

By News 13

Maine Maritime Academy's historic schooner Bowdoin arrived in Portland harbor on Sunday, along with MMA's 500-foot training ship, State of Maine.

MMA students, alumni, and the public got a chance to take a tour of the Bowdoin, and learn about its history.

The Bowdoin was built in 1921 for arctic exploration and has made more than two dozen trips to the Arctic Circle.

Poll

Do you think Portland's mayor should continue to be selected by the city council, or should voters get to choose their own mayor?

  • The system should stay the same. If it ain't broke, don't fix it.
  • Voters should get to decide. The city council has too much power as it is.
