By News 13

Part-time teachers in the Maine Community College System voted on Monday to join the Maine State Employees Association, a union that already represents thousands of state workers.

The vote gives the 800 part-time faculty members representation aimed at helping them get better wages and benefits.

Poll

Do you think Portland's mayor should continue to be selected by the city council, or should voters get to choose their own mayor?

  • The system should stay the same. If it ain't broke, don't fix it.
  • Voters should get to decide. The city council has too much power as it is.
