Ten organic dairy farmers in Maine that were dropped by their distributors have joined up to form their own company, Maine's Own Organic (MOO) Milk. They're hoping to have cartons on store shelves by mid-December.
Bill Eldridge, MOO Milk's general manager, says that this endeavor will help save three dozen jobs and also create several more.
Eldridge says that 90 percent of MOO Milk's profits are expected to go back to the farmers themselves, and he believes consumers will be willing to pay a little more in order to buy local.
