A group of Catholic and non-Catholic gay marriage supporters silently protested the Question One vote result at the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception in Portland Sunday morning.
Protesters held signs and taped their mouths shut because they say their voices were silenced by the Church's hierarchy during the vote.
Protesters demanded the Church be held accountable for swaying the vote, and for donating more than half a million dollars to the "Yes on One" campaign.
A similar protest was also held in Bangor.
