FOX23's mission is to entertain, inform and enhance the lives of our viewing audience. In support of this mission, we air hundreds of public service announcements designed to educate viewers of issues concerning their health, safety, welfare and happiness.
FOX23 accepts pre-produced public service announcements from 501(c)(3) non-profit organizations to be broadcast when sufficient airtime is available. PSA's will be aired free of charge to qualifying non-profit, charitable organizations that do not have funding to get their message of public interest out into the community. Occasionally, FOX23 may also provide public service airtime assistance to registered non-profit organizations that do have funding available for advertising but seek additional free exposure.
The station retains sole discretion in determining whether or not and how much PSA time is allocated. All PSA's submitted will be considered, based on content, quality, appropriate use and priority. Top priority is given to initiatives and events in which the station participates, followed by local, state, regional and national campaigns. FOX23 also supports industry initiatives with PSA time such as the Maine Association of Broadcasters and the National Association of Broadcasters.
To submit a public service announcement, mail a script, cover letter with organizational background, and copy of the organization's 501(c)(3) form along with the videotape to: FOX23 WPFO, Attn: Teresa Pinney, 233 Oxford St. Ste. 35, Portland, ME 04101. Accepted format is Beta Sp. Spot lengths should be 10, 15, 20 or 30 seconds. Please include start and end dates for the announcement.
Pre-produced PSA's should be received as far in advance as possible. All PSA's approved for air will run in rotation with other approved PSA's on an R.O.S. schedule. FOX23 does not provide performance affidavits for public service announcements.
